PUT IT TO WORK
Step by step
- Sign in and open Processing in the sidebar footer. Enable built-in input utilities and save the preference. Optional activity recording is a separate switch.
- Open a note, select the text you want to work on and choose Utilities above the editor.
- Choose a text action such as a heading, bullet list, checklist, case conversion or line-whitespace cleanup. Review the resulting edit; ordinary autosave persists it.
- For read-only inspection, choose BOM, characters, lines & word checks. Add temporary word rules or an optional regular expression if you need them.
- Click Run checks, inspect the results and make any cleanup change deliberately. Running checks does not rewrite the note.
Selection-based writing helpers
Actions include heading and list formatting, timestamp insertion, uppercase/lowercase conversion, trimming line whitespace, removing U+FEFF and normalizing line endings. Monaco transformations are grouped for undo so you can reverse an unwanted utility edit.
With no selection, an action may insert at the cursor or have no effect. Utilities are text operations, not a rich-text design system. The change becomes an ordinary private save and does not automatically publish a shared snapshot.
Inspect a note without changing it
Read-only checks report Unicode code points, UTF-16 units, UTF-8 byte size, line-ending patterns, whitespace and invisible characters. Word checks provide token counts, frequencies and matches for your temporary word rules. They are not a spelling, grammar or factual-accuracy service.
BOM checks describe U+FEFF in decoded note text, not the original byte encoding of an imported file. Pattern matching uses a bounded Unicode regular expression; it is not permission to execute arbitrary JavaScript programs or plugins.
Local work with explicit boundaries
Checks run in a same-origin browser worker created for that action and terminated on completion, error or timeout. The worker has a two-second processing timeout and size/result safeguards, helping prevent an expensive pattern from blocking the writing interface indefinitely.
Your temporary word list and pattern are not saved or uploaded. This feature does not send the note to an external AI, spellchecker or analytics processor. Enabling utilities does not require enabling optional activity recording, and no scheduled analysis of all notes is started.
Keep in mindText transformations change selected content. Review the result and use undo if needed. A read-only check can identify a pattern but does not establish whether the text is correct.
Common questions
Can I install arbitrary processing plugins here?
No. The current utilities are built-in text actions and bounded word/regex rules, not an executable plugin marketplace.
Does running a check automatically clean the note?
No. Checks report findings. Cleanup actions are separate, explicit edits.
Find a useful starting point.
Search the shared notes and directory collection, then open your own workspace when you are ready to work. Reading a shared document does not create a private file.
